Greetings from Dresden

Guess what DTTErs - I wore the same tshirt and shorts cycling for 5 days straight! I smelt AWESOME!! I gave in and washed it today on my rest day here in Dresden, but as soon as I can I will post a pic of me in all my glory. There was something really satisfying about wearing the same thing every day, go figure! For those of you who can't wait for the detail, it is a green and pale blue coloured Mooks t and black Cotton On shorts that have a hole where all my pants do and a threadbare arse. I am a real treat at the moment, I tell you what.
Hope this post finds you all well - and Elise, I am waiting with baited breath for a post from you!
Over and out comrades
xx

sarah at large, euro style

In vilsbiburg, home town of the broiiide. Pretty town centre eh? Jumper was 15 quid in Liverpool.

For a spot of sightseeing in Berlin! You're looking at me and im looking at brandenburger tor.

Inhaling cake in my new paisley dress, at the cafe at the German history museum where 6 euros provided about 5 hours entertainment.

wednesday july twenty

sean is feigning happiness in this shot, although his jumper deserves a smile. it's been pouring with rain here all week, with the wettest sydney july in fifty years. it just DID NOT STOP for about four days. sean, barista extraordinaire, was so sick of people talking about the weather he put up a sign of the coffee machine saying 'blah blah blah... something about the weather'. it didnt stop people talking about it. do you see? i'm still doing it, even though i think it might be over now. or at least occasional showers as opposed to just constant day and night heavy, heavy rain.

i got caught out without an umbrella (lost) and rainjacket (left in melbourne) so i fashioned this clever all-weather gear which meant i just walked through the rain like a terminator. you remember that scene when arnie is coming out of the lift and all those cops are shooting at him in T2 and he keeps getting hit but keeps moving forward? it was like that...people were running and covering themselves with things and umbrellas blowing themselves inside out, and i just strolled along as though it were a summer's day in my trenchcoat, cap, long boots. only my knees got wet and who cares about knees, anyways?

this is just one of the many, many traffic snarls experienced all week 'cause despite it always raining heavily for long periods in winter up here, our city always seems surprised by it. this was the view up the road, traffic not really moving... 20 min bus ride into work took 40, etc. blurrrgh. i don't mind the rain but after a while it does get a bit boring with every day being the same.

aaaaaaaaaand... here's the downside to my all-weather outfit - caphair. small price to pay, really.

tuesday july nineteen

I found these photos from last week in my stupid non-priority inbox (curse you, Gmail, as if you know my priorities!).

Here's Sarah, on a boat, in a lifejacket, drinking tea. Aw.

This is my favourite.

This guy is called Captain Nashy. I'm pretty sure he lives on the boat :-)

Here's me. This is a very sensible work dress I bought the other day while waiting for Mike at the recruiters. It was $45! Couldn't believe it. It was bought from one of those cheap stores, I think called Sabina or Sabine or something. I was in between sizes and had to choose slightly too big or slightly too small, opted for the latter but am regretting it now as it makes me walk with smaller, more ladylike steps than i'm used to and there's no chance I could pull off a high kick in it. The bigger one would have revealed side boob, I think, so still fairly confident I made the right choice.

Here's Erin in shockingly awesome pink, bought along with another bag of vintage stuff from the States. She's spent all her fun vouchers for the fortnight (as have I, and we're only a week in) but we agreed the Aussie dollar is just too good at the moment to pass up online shopping ops.

sunday july seventeen

da-na-na-na-na-na - they say it's my birthday :-)

It was a helluva afternoon/evening. I forgot to take photos until i got home, quite late... I'm not sure exactly when it was but I know it was past 8pm, which is my usual Sunday ladies lunch deadline. I am 33 now.

But I tried, gallantly, to snap some photos for posterity. Wearing my favourite wool dress that I bought in Melbourne last time, black jacket from H&M, blue tights.

Here are a bunch of gifts I got - very, very spoiled including a couple of gorgeous necklaces and a bag and some tights that you will no doubt be seeing on these pages soon.

thank you very much to everyone who came down to the barley for a drink and for my lovely gifts (apologies for the food, if you ate - i forgot to mention it is really awful and there's only a few things you can safely order).

thursday july fourteen

me and mikey had an adventure on thursday... mike went to see our friend who is a recruiter, had some lunch and then touristed around the opera house and botanic gardens. here's mikey.

and here's me. I've been wearing this coat all weekend, given to me by my mother about five years ago, for my birthday (which it is today!). Yay! Will be more diligent and try to snap birthday drinkers this afternoon.

A few pics from the past week...

... to tide you all over til I can blog properly!

Saturday July 9

Adam and Lata's wedding!! Quite a few pics below of my Cambridge-Kenya cycling buddies who I love and miss dearly. Everyone was dressed to the elevens and were very amused to think I had a fashion blog.

Sunday July 10
Today we cycled from our campsite at Ivinghoe (or somewhere like that) to Cambridge which is 50 or 60 miles- it was a long long day! We started at 10.30 and got there at 7.45pm! What an athlete eh... erm cough. We did stop at the pub for lunch in the GLORIOUS sunshine, and yes, also for cake, and oh alright then yes we also stopped for ice cream. That's just how we roll. Left to right are Andy, Den, Xina and Sam.

Trace I looked but couldn't find any firemen for you to bring home as a souvenir - so sorry! Looking pretty special eh? I think I slept in that t-shirt 2 days then wore it. Also wore it to the pub last night where the bar woman referred to me as 'the lady who's dressed as a bumble bee' to my friends. Biatch.

Monday July 11

Cap'n Nashy made me breakfast on his boat this morning, bless him. He's in work gear and I'm wearing my pyjamas and a life vest and pulling a silly face. It is one of the best and worst pics of me ever - I need to post it when I get my iPhone pics!

Poofy came and met me at the station with some fake flowers and a wedding proposal - I already had the ring on me of course! We think far too alike sometimes. I'm wearing a great dress I got in Monsoon that morning - how good is it!! It was on sale for maybe 35 quid or so... winner.

Tuesday July 12

Not my most exciting get up, have better pics on my iPhone but can't get them so this will have to do - I have a very funny pic in mind.

Wednesday July 11

Many options for today - here's a couple of me, Poofy and Gala at his graduation and then going for a drive in the vintage MG. I got the dress also on sale in Monsoon in Cambridge - it was 120 euros (ouch) but on sale it was 38 quid which makes it less than 60 shmucks. It is a beautiful silky fabric and feel that it saved my bacon today. Gala looked gorgeous in a blue top and a blue satin jacket - she is one of the most edgy stylish people I know.

tuesday july twelve

sarah where are yoooooooooooooooouuuuuuu? your fans are all missing you and i am feeling the pressure.

fortunately, there's erin. her shoes today are a hit, two-toned chaps (is that what they're called?). Erin's footwear, anyway, is what I'm referring to, bought in Myer in Wagga Wagga. The jacket was her grandmother's; an oversize snug coat in a lovely caramel.

Here's me. Dressed in funeral black and in mourning till Sarah comes back to the blog.

saturday july nine

i went visiting on saturday, to my other cousin bianca's place. she has two little boys, oscar (oldest one) and william (front, left) and little baby harry (renee's little boy). the two sisters didnt think about it beforehand but they now have a wills and harry. they are not ardent monarchists or anything, though you could be forgiven for thinking so.

here's little baby harry, my cousin renee's first child who is now almost three months old.

here is me and harry. he is a super baby, just eats and sleeps and occasionally smiles at you. super cute.

here's me and cousin post breakfast, another beautiful winter's day but pretty windy. i am wearing jeans and a trench, bought on sale at DJs for $80 (espirit). i asked cousin what she was wearing and she said elastic pants and laughed for a long time. she is a very relaxed and natural mumma, makes it look easy.

friday july eight

well sportsfans, ms wilson has jetted off to europe so things on DTTE are going to get a whole lot more interesting - she's promised to try to blog every day. can't wait to see the weddings outfits in all their glory.

here's a pic sarah text me from the airport. she made it in tact despite a last-minute panic getting ready which included her getting in the shower with her bra on. that's some distraction you got going there, lady.

here's me, yesterday arvo. i sent it to mike for again kicking my arse in a running tally of bets we have going on various facts and figures. this particular one i lost was whether or not you can get still the first home buyer's grant if you have purchased a property in another country, ie NZ. (you can. so despite losing it is not all bad news, should we foray into NZ real estate.)

here's my mum who i had lunch with yesterday. i've written before about me hectoring her on dressing age appropriately... i think this outfit is nice but it is a bit odd when your 64 year old mother is more on trend than you are - note the stonewash jeans (this season, i grilled her), black ankle boots and hoop earrings. she even had black ray bans. i ask you. how does she even know about this stuff?

finally, here's me today. i took a much-needed mental health day and didn't even get over the road for coffee till two, after about 5 hours contemplating getting dressed. i can't remember why i have that look on my face. since then, i have been cooking up a storm: slow-cooked pork with chorizo and black beans, leek and onion quiche and an orange and poppyseed cake which i'm gonna take round to the reekies in a bit for tea.

hope everyone has a terrific weekend and no doubt we will see sarah back on these pages very soon! last tweet i got from her was 19 hours in at helsinki airport. fly right, missy.

thurs july seven

Lately I've had complaints about my hair, ranging from counterparts at other orgs, Sunrise stylist and my boyf regarding the length of my fringe and that my hair is hiding my face.

I have no problem with that, however, to appease the one person whose opinion I do actually care about, I have decided that one day a week will be a designated no-fringe day. Today is that day. Unfortunately, a lock snuck out the middle making me look like the girl with the curl, etc etc... but if the shoe fits.

The face I am wearing is one i like to call 'how we laughed'. It's a sarcastic face, but a face nonetheless. Jeans are from Saba, top is from the Gap but bought second hand for $8 and brooch is from Ange. Thinking of you, lady. x

sat-sun july one and two

hola, loyal readers!

this post must begin with an apology to sarah for my slackness: borne from a dreadful combination of too much work and not enough interesting clothes to show off.

Anyhoo, Ima back. Enough about all that.

Theses are my mates L & Z, a couple of three-year-old bruisers who did a special fashion parade for us on Saturday. L is wearing a white dress with blue horizontal stripes (at three, she can still get away with it) and Z's in her ballet tutu she got for Xmas from Jannie. Glowstick wristbands - an excellent touch I think you'll agree - came from L's Mum's cupboard.

Me, at home Saturday arvo, sitting on the turret, among the trees. I know it's a bit pedestrian to talk about the weather but we had three incredible days of 19-21 over the weekend and it was nice to be in short sleeves again.

Here's me in the park on sunday with my beloved at the lens, hence the ridiculously large shit-eating grin on my face. Cardy from target, dress was second hand and boots are old favourites. Beads, navy blue round ones, are also favourites that were lost but M found them in a drawer over the weekend - thanks honey. Belt is from another dress and bike is model's own. We bought a set of the glasses i have in my hand from the addison rd markets and a picnic spread which we ate in the park.

The gorgeous sixties print bag is handmade with love from my friend michelle in the U of K, who sent it to me recently for no good reason. Surprise gifts are the best gifts I reckon.

Now someone want to tell me why the posts I do from home make my pics all pixelly? Damn you, apple (shakes fist).
