thursday dec one

Had a good day today. wearing the woollen dress i bought on smith street.

Wednesday 30 November

I am seriously under the pump this week and am feeling it. Didn't get a pic. Luckily it doesn't matter, because coming to my rescue is the lovely lady Lucille, who cracked out baby Jack on Monday night!

JOB WELL DONE!! He is cute as pie, but look how big he looks! Yow. Here's Lucille looking far better than most people post-birth, resplendent in a silver dressing gown. Cracker-Jack is being held by his proud Aunty Clare. I love him already.

last week in november

well. work mania aside, which i assume is countrywide in the lead up to christmas (A ONE-WEEK HOLIDAY PEOPLE, GET A GRIP), the weather is pretty turbulent up here. cold one day, steaming the next - storms, humidity, sun, rain, wind - i confess, dear readers, getting it right in a dress sense is more challenging than ever.
here's me friday, rainy as heck. i'm wearing my black jeans, maroon campers, turquoise jumper bought in Un Zud for $3. Can't wait to get back to the op shops over there. i do know that maroon and turquoise don't go together, but i put on a maroon leather necklace from the ladies and it looks like an outfit by design, rather than by accident. yes?
saturday was another case in point. we woke to pouring rain, which was amazing for a lie in, then it cleared up and got really hot by lunch just when i had made it out the door. i was dressed in cold clothes, so i had to buy this t-shirt (also $3, from the St Luke's op shop on enmore road) as i was boiling in a woollen vest. the capri pants are from kimmy, which fit everywhere but are very low cut, meaning i can't pick anything up in them without looking like britney spears circa 2007.
By the time Sarah arrived at cocktail hour (coincidence, i think not), i was in another outfit that sare has photos of and had already begun dancing at an inpromptu youtube party. the party was spurred on by the Un Zud election, which this household was following with much interest. (Well, half of the household was, which is why I was practising karaoke - meatloaf's 'two out of three ain't bad'. the verses are really complicated). sarah, dressed in her lovely apricot top and denim skirt, ably took control of the blender. i don't think it was her first time.
we celebrated quite an amazing campaign success at work today, which i can't go into due to my paranoia about anyone i know professionally finding this blog accidentally via google. let's just say it was related to the fare cawls campaign and we cracked the bubbly stuff at 5pm. here's erin on the bus on the way home, the campaign's mother. i really love this cream white dress on her, it's so pretty. you might spy a dramatic haircut, too, regular readers, but this pic doesn't do it justice. girl was tired, so i can't show you her face on television.
here's me on the way home after AGAIN not winning the meat tray at the warren view. shit is rigged. i'm in a dress that i wore to maria's farewell, a delightful former colleague who was an elvis fan. i went as priscilla presley, having failed to find a matching tracksuit and go as the karate instructor she left elvis for, which was my first choice. i'm wearing my campaign badge with pride. nice work, ET.

Tuesday 29 November

Green skirt with the split (8 dollar from Marrickville a couple of months ago), white singlet, black Veronika Maine top, black heeled sandals I rarely wear (may be their maiden appearance in fact) and black cardy.

 Boring!

Next!

Monday 28 November

A very early start today, and I wasn't exactly looking my finest after an awesome weekend having too much fun. Had a face for radio today; luckily that's all I had to do (had a big campaign I've been working on for a few months launch today).

Blue a-line skirt, white singlet, my stripy top from Pimkie I got last holiday, and sandals to take the pressure off my poor feet. Youch.

Sunday 27 November

So today was a very special day for DTTE repeat offender Trent; it was his wedding day!!

It started early (7:30am early in fact); here he is about to go off to see the world...

... before getting what can only be described as a better offer...

... from a lovely lady who made him very, very happy that day. I don't know that I've ever seen a man beam like that before!

Congrats Trent and Janani - if the day itself is anything to go by, these two are going to be very happy for a mighty long time.

This is Rose, one of my bike riding buddies who was at the wedding. I think we've only ever seen each other in a t-shirt and shorts, so it was quite a shock to see each other all dolled up! She wore an excellent shade of pink as you can see; in this pic she's wearing flats but she alternated between those and some swanky black pointy patent leather heels. Smart move.

I borrowed a dress from Elise the night before, after deciding I didn't feel like wearing the only dress I had bought with me. It's from Monsoon and is lovely, is it not DTTErs?? Silky without being shiny, spotty, mid length, with a blue sash. When I came home after the wedding Elise greeted me with "Look! Boobs! Oh Sare I'm so proud of you"! Doesn't take much to impress her eh?

Not shown are the red peep toe patent leather heels I wore with it. Needless to say I ripped it up on the dancefloor and in turn the shoes ripped the shit outta my feet. Should be wearing strapless sandals for about a fortnight I reckon, but it was all worth it!

Saturday 26 November

Spent quite a bit of today with the fam again; here's my brother Nathan with his freshly reconstructed arm. We're in the park down near the Bay walk getting some exercise. He is wearing things that are easy to get on and off - black t-shirt and shorts, and basketball shoes which he ain't going to be wearing for quite a while.

Here's me pretending to throw myself in the water (drama queen). Spotty 50's style bow top and blue a-line skirt.

Later that day I caught up with Elise and Mikey for a few drinks and some intense scrutiny of the Nuw Zulund election and referendum; she was looking like a total knockout in a tight fitting long sleeved emerald green jersey dress and her tan flats. Mikey was wearing a serious face.

Later that night we had ourselves a small YouTube party; this is Elise knocking herself out to Dancing in the Dark, a tune that nearly always makes it onto the playlist.

Friday 25 November

Spent most of today in transit. Seriously. Tram to the city, train to Albury, car to Wodonga, car back to Albury, a flight to Sydney and then a cab to Lilyfield. I feel tired just typing that.

I had dinner and drinks with my Mum and brothers. There was an extremely entertaining fight at some point on the difference between marketing and advertising, a debate I have weighed into myself on past occassions; was happy to let the boys slug it out and snigger on the sidelines for today though.

Someone at my preso in Wodonga got a pic and I'll post it later; in the interim, here's a pic of my brother Boof. He was tres entertaining; one of his best stories involved going to a double wedding last weekend. Apparently the sound system broke down and the bride and groom walked down the aisle as the music blared out of an old Nissan Pulsar. What tune? Metallica, Nothing Else Matters. I am totally, totally having a bogan double wedding one day.  Elise - got anything you'd like to ask me???

thursday nov twenty-four

Here I am, natch - here I was yesterday: red cardy, new black top from Review ($50), old pants from Ojay - still love. My black raincoat is in the background which I've had to wear all week. Stupid rain. Don't they know it's almost summer? I haven't posted all week because a) I keep forgetting to get pics taken now Sean isn't making my coffee in the morn b) I had two days off work with a bug and didn't bother dressing at all one of the days) and c) I've got a mammoth Dolly post from last weekend I keep meaning to get to and haven't. Anyhoo, something to tide you ovah. Looking forward to seeing you, willy.

Lisey, Lisey...

Where for art thou, Lisey??

Thursday 24 November

Had to be at work super early today for some media goodness. Got dressed pretty quickly today, but didn't do too badly for once. Behold: the white asian-style top I got at H&M in 2004 (sadly starting to lose it's shape); the red pleated skirt that set me back around 7 dollar from the Red Cross shop in Balmain at Christmas last year; and the tan flats I am wearing nearly daily at present. Yellow envelope and red earrings to accessorize.

After an 11 hour day (grumble grumble) I met this handsome stranger for a few drinkies and dinner. Camoflage shorts, blue Adidas jacket (favourite), black Havianas and - what's this? - sunnies at night!! Hello 1984 called and asked for it's style back!

Oooooh snap!!

Shot on location at South Wharf, Melbourne.

Wednesday 23 November

Up early to catch my boss on morning TV today, so I took the opportunity to do some IRONING while I was at it.

Presenting for your viewing pleasure: navy and pink spotty Monsoon top, teamed with the navy a-line skirt (which also got the once over) and black boots.

I like this combo, even though it surely breaks a few fashion rules (matching colours) - and my poor posture isn't really helping things, but anyhey. A nice sunny day helps make everything look better, right?

I have a trip to the sticks to do a presentation coming up later this week, plus the wedding of DTTE repeat offender Trent! Feeling pretty indecisive about what to wear to both of these events. Thinking the floral dress I wore to Adam and Lata's wedding for Sunday, and something not to flashy for the excursion to Wodonga.

Thoughts? Requests?

Tuesday 22 November

Got busted having my pic taken today; I tried to hide behind the door but Dan was swiftly across the room to poitn and laugh. Then he stood in the doorway and looked smug for a while, and I sat down and pouted.

Boring black Esprit pants (still too big), white singlet, black 3/4 length sheer Veronika Maine top, tan flats. I'm wearing an awesome little badge that Tarz gave me for my birthday; it's a little wooden teapot! Soooo cute! Lots of comments on it today - thanks lady.

Monday 21 November

Didn't have much brain power to put toward today's outfit sorry DTTErs.

Black boots, black Zara pencil skirt, and the floaty grey paisley top I got in Dotti earlier this year for the le grande price of about 20 bucks (from memory). Last of the big spenders!

Fringe is looking sooo much better nowadays don't you reckon?

Sunday 20 November

Went for a morning swim this morning at Fitzroy pewwwl with a devilishly handsome non- double denim clad mystery man. He complained about the length of the boardshorts I lent him; here they are rolled up to a more suitable length. I got them at the Bonds warehouse in Sydenham yeeears ago and think I've worn them twice.

Wearing the japanese floral number I got in Singa probably 4 years ago now; looking very refreshed in this pic!

That afternoon I had the lovely JK and repeat repeat REPEAT DTTE offender Trace over for a roast. Yes Elise, I made another one! It was nowhere near as good without your guiding hand, and I did have to make 2 phone calls to my mother for assistance. But no matter.

Trace is wearing a onesie that is bright orange with tigers on it. I categorically love it. It's courtesy of Tarz.

JK is wearing a cute top with cut out sleeves and jeans; look at those delightful feet she has in her face!!

Thankfully they left at a reasonable hour, I was well on my way to having far too much fun on a Sunday night!

dolly: sat nov nineteen

mikey. what makes this photo even more excellent is that he isn't even posing. i think it was the flies, he is unaccustomed. i bought this shirt for him as part of a 3 for $20 deal (including ties) at BSL in north fitzroy?, when i was with willy, anyway.
adam, in a field of grass where we parked the car with hundreds of others at hope estate. was a funny sight on its own the next day. adam & i talked about his shirt but again, i have forgotten. must write things down again, like i did in the early days of DTTE.
julizie and addy, on this very plush red blanket that we camped on for her royal dollyness. we saw fireworks at the end.
julzie. this skirt is another kimmy magic number from the clothes swap - i don't know what any of us were wearing before it.
me, in my lovely peach? dress, also by kimmy.
anticipation.
addie and miss narissa, looking one million dollars. dress if from apple pie fashions and doesn't she look terrific? it was a wonderful evening, the rest stays on tour.

Saturday 19 November

Miserable day outside here today DTTErs - it really was stay in bed weather. That said, I decided to trek to the Kinki Gerlinki warehouse sale in Brunswick; I scored an awesome top which you will no doubt see in time. Also managed to get totally saturated in the process, but no matter.

Later that day I had a bit of kulcha; went and saw a film called All Night Long, which was nominated by Mick Harvey (Bad Seeds etc) as being his most influential film as part of this event series put on for Melbourne Music Week. The film itself was great - well the music was (theme loosely based on Othello) - but the Q&A with the man himself afterwards was truly cringeworthy. He was not being one bit co-operative, and the interviewer didn't have the skills to make it happen. I quite enjoyed it, but I'm pretty mean, just ask anyone :)

Evening wear - jeans, the tan frilled neck lizard top I got in Roma last year, blue scarf and black cropped Dangerfield jacket. Freezing!

Friday 18 November

I am far too scared to do that health age quiz. I do not want to know! Well it depends I guess on whether exercise beats booze, a-la paper scissors rocks.

Friday was a lovely hot day - cracked out the brown spotty dress that Elise got me in Un Zed recently. Self portrait in my lounge room. Slightly creepy for some reason eh??

thurs seventeen to friday nov eighteen

yesterday it rained all day. here's me sleepy in blue tights, grey wool skirt ($3-$4 in op shop in apollo bay that jan cut off and sewed up for me. country victorian op shops are tits. soooo cheap, so much good stuff.)

i did this online health test to determine my 'health age' yesterday, which is multiple choice and asks some pretty probing questions. anyway, the good news is that my health age is 33, same as me. So I am neither satisfied nor dissatisfied with that result. if you look under the headline age it says i could reduce my health age by ten years but then i'd be a 23-year-old ratbag again and no one wants that.

this page is funny. (go on, take the test! M is 37/31.)

friday! had a training today with community sector types and represented in this odd ensemble, brown pants from ojay, red singet from days of yore, crocheted cardy from clothes sawp. I'm celebrating 'cause dolly is tomorrow night and we're going to the hunter... but what to wear? i've got dolly in the vineyards, toronto limo home (trono to the locals) and then sleeping in a tent. all class.

Thursday 17 November

Today is a biiiig day; Lucille is about to pop, it's Poofy's birthday, and some friends in the West got engaged last night. I am in an extremely good mood today.

Reasonable day at work, bit of lunchtime sunshine, and a few beers and bowls in the afternoon made for a pretty god damn good day all round!

And without further ado: navy a-line skirt (with a slip - such a good trick, especially when it doesn't show at the bottom); the black pleated lightweight top I got at Christmas time last year from the Cue outlet in Birkenhead Point; and my blue criss-cross Campers on their second outing. Just as they did on their maiden outing, they have cut my feet to shreds. Life skills strikes again.

Handsome Dan in Singapore sent me some pics last night; this is of a series of pics from a group warm up... for a 5km run. Hilarious. He's the handsome one in the middle looking pained.

Wednesday 16 November

One of my colleagues is leaving this week, so we had an afternoon tea for him. I was very good and baked muffins! I adapted a banana and date muffin recipe to be a wholemeal rasperry and white chocolate recipe and if I do say so myself they were DELICIOUS.

I have to add this point because someone who is 'famous' for wearing a Texan Tuxedo - but otherwise has quite good taste - gave me 11 out of 10 for effort with the muffins.

11/10 - for effort.

This did not go down well; at afternoon tea I insisted that everyone who ate one compliment me so I could relay this onward. Not that I'm bitter and twisted, no siree.

Was so busy taking photos of my muffins I didn't get a pic til very late in the day. Had a few beers with workmate Dan to celebrate an extremely good day; here I am with a bucket of Budweisers in my purple frilly spotty silk top I got in Berlin a few months ago, the green pencil pleat skirt I got in the ghetto for $6 or so a few months back, and the aforementioned dirty black cardie.

And here's Dan. He's having what some unkind people, mainly me,  might call a midlife crisis this week. The only proof of this is that he's bought a skateboard. It's got a naked woman with a snake wrapped around her on it (course it does). To his credit he got on it and started riding straight away, without knowing how to stop, and he has used it more than once. Sadly his career as a mature age deck dog is on hold because of a groin injury.

Note the awesome t-shirt on the guy behind him (skateboarding is not a crime).

wednesday november sixteen

I bought this shirt at the highly exclusive K-mart a few weeks ago for $12. It's pretty conservative making it good for work, and has a pleasing white and blue thin stripe, which looks a little strob-ey in this photo (this is why you can't wear stripes on TV). Anyway, I felt like i looked like a medico 'cause of the colours and i proudly said to a colleague who commented on it 'i feel like a doctor in this shirt'. she replied, 'you look like a politician visiting the bush... like Anna Bligh or something'. Ouch. I'm going with doctor.

Tuesday 15 November

Needed to cheer myself up a bit today so cracked out the black and white spotty dress! Didn't do the greatest job admittedly - forgot a belt, noticed that the black cardy I've been wearing all week has god knows what all over it, and of course the shoes do not match. I don't care too much really.

Lovely sunny lunch in the park with the boys today too - here is Lach doing what he does best (sorry Elise I should have started this post with a public health warning).
