December 31 - Night time

My night time adventures began at Maria's; she was a delightful hostess and made us slushie cocktails and made us wear New Year's Eve hats.

Maria and Nadsie. Maria is in the sheer white sleeveless top, Nadsie looked hawwwwt in the black full length one shoulder dress with belt. Looking mighty fine all round, ladies.

Maria's friend Jordan and DTTE repeat offender George. I think it is no state secret that George is my favourite person of all time, in all the circumstances. We have been friends for how long now - 18 or 19 years? It was great to spend a New Year's together - I am struggling to think of another time we have, but surely that is not possible? George help me out - your brain works, was this our first??

Anyways, she was wearing an awesome 50's style dress that was navy with yellow spots and trim, and had dress shoes and nail polish - talk about dressed to the elevens! The pics speak for themselves - she looked fantastic.

Here's a shot of us about to leave. You will notice I am wearing Elise's clothes - black Chinese-style dress wiht splits up the side, and her blue shoes with a heel. When she clapped eyes on me she kept repeating:

"SARAH I AM JUST SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!"

Thanks Pony! It was nice to make a bit of an effort. We'd been playing with Guys hair straightener earlier that day, so the hair looked like it had had some attention (for once).  The crown set off the hair nicely eh??

Here's one of Elise I took using my new favourite app, Instagram. Love that flapper dress - gorgeous.

Another couple of shots, just coz they're goodies:

Nadsie and George - I love this pic

Narissa, just a little bit posessed by the devil, moi, Elise. I look like I've got overboard on the fake tan - all lies, I am just brown/orange.

And it seems apt to finish with a pic of me and Elise - happy new year ladyfriend!! I love our blog and I love you to bits. xx

Saturday December 31 - daylight hours

Had a delightful harbourside brekkie with handsome Dan this morning - our last catch up of his trip alas!  We made the most of it, wandering around the Balmain foreshore taking arty pics.

Dan looking funky, me looking portly in the middle. Purple Witchery t, my denim skirt, black cardy, navy a-line skirt and blue Campers.

At lunchtime, George, Marky, Ruby and I went to visit our old school mate Guy, who I only get to see once a year at best. We spent many hours in her backyard talking crap and looking at pics, including this one of me which she found god knows where. Ill-fitting blue bikini - why does that ring a bell?!

Ruby wore the dress I got her for Christmas! I was stoked! Sooo cute, even when she was being a little bit feral. Got it at markets at the Abbotsford Convent, and I love it. It's also reversable. Genius.

She also had a bit of a swim - how great is that rash vest! Mama George has good taste in baby swimwear, does she not?

Here's us, three sheets to the wind. I'm wearing the watermelon badge Dan gave me for Christmas. I appear to have left the whole shirt in Sydney though - well I hope I have, no idea where else it could be.

Here is my last piece of free advice for the year folks: don't drink all day and plan on a nanna nap in between drinking sessions. I am just saying.

Nighttime to follow...

Friday 30 December

Mega baby day today!

This is my cousin Tashi with her two little ones Max and Zoe. Zoe pulls the funniest faces - if she doesn't like you, you quickly know about it - hysterical. Max is hilarious - check out his pose and tough guy t-shirt. Shot on location at Balmoral beach.

Spent the rest of the day with Lucille and Baby Jack! He was good as gold, again. We had a picnic down at Harbord beach - here is (new) mother of the year setting up our picnic! Black top and cute orange Indian style skirt. And 10 points being dressed properly despite having a new born baby to look! As a bystander it was tiring enough - even though he is soooo good (I may be biased here :)).

Moi with Baby Jack - he's wearing the jump suit I got him from my local Clifton Hill babywear store (which I didn't know existed til a week ago, funnily enough) with all the animals on it (clever boy). Again not crying despite the proximity to all those chins - Lucille you gotta stop doing this to me!! Purple Witchery t and navy a-line skirt.

And because there haven't been enough, here's my fave poooooool shot from Andrew Boy Charlton late this afternoon. Magic.

merry christmas!

sarah and i have been remiss of our DTTE commitments this week, having too much fun to blog but never fear dear readers there are lots of photos we'll get to sooner or later.

above is sarah and her madre on christmas day. i like that they are in colour-coordinated outfits and does sarah's mother not have tremendous skin? good genes, willy, good genes.

here's me in a dress from apple pie fashions and hat that hugh's aunty marg made for me. i really liked marg, at a family wedding once she saw me writing in the guestbook and said 'oh my god - you write like a spastic!'. no one had ever put it so directly before, or since. (i am left handed and do write funny.)

Thursday 29 December

Started today with a swim!

Drummoyne Swimming Pool... artsy pic courtesy of my new favourite app, Instamatic.

I wore my new swimmers - the navy ones with a frill on the top. Was sending this to people who were working today. Suckers :)

Later that day my bro and I went up and visited my Mum again. Here she is wearing my awesome blue Jigsaw cardie; she made me give it to her to try on because it feels gorgeous (cashmere). Luckily it heated up and she had to take it off eventually.

Here's Nanny Hogan, my bro in some wierd t shirt, and my uncle in some dodgy tourist t-shirt I thankfully didn't get a full picture of.

Wednesday 28 December

Fantastic day today - had a morning swim with Elise at Coogee Ladies Baths; she did herself proud in a big swell, doing laps like an athlete. Yup, that's the master at work right there.

I had a paddle myself and then went and met Handsome Dan for breakfast...

... and then a lovely day walking around the eastern suburbs beaches.  Dan wore a 3/4 blue sleeve shirt and errrm shorts I believe. I wore my awesome paisley Monsoon dress - here I am striking a very natural pose at Clovelly...

... and this one is a total set up - Dan drinking a beer at Clovelly Bowlo. Preposterous.

And this is a gratuitous shot of Bronte beach, just coz.

Later that night I had dinner with Elise (left in a stripey dress and green cardy, the lovely Narissa, George and Dan who was wearing long sleeves because of the novelty value. We went through "several" bottles of wine before the night was through - another awesome night.

Tuesday 27 December

Holidays start to blur into each other when they aren't obvious days such as Christmas and New Year. Ie... I can't remember much about today. Pretty sure it was the day Elise and I went on a bike riding excursion to Broadway. We almost bought matching black dresses, but I flaked at the end and she didn't want it then. Elise also left her wallet in Coles that day. Spot the pattern yet?!

We had a beer at the ever-wacky Friend in Hand in Glebe, and a delightful interaction with the locals. Elise kept her cool - here's her in the sun. No pic of me, probably not a bad thing.

Monday 26 December

Yeah, mighty sore heads today. Me and Nat and Vroni went to the beach at Terrigal for lunch - too cold for a swim, and a bit overcast.

I wore a white singlet, black top and denim shorts. Comfort clothing - good choice. The ice-cream helped the head.

Sunday 25 December

Happy Christmas everyone! Here are a few snaps of the fam from the day.

Elf ears on a hat. Nothing else need be said.

The whole family at dinner. I took a series; my brother makes his way closer to the food table pic by pic.

Jazzy's wife didn't make it up this year - spending time with her own family! Lucky Vroni's folks are in Germany so we get her all to ourselves. There is talk of a white Christmas next year; we shall see.

Uncle Jimmy dressed as some kinda Santa. Disturbing, I know.

Nanny Hogan with my brother Boof. He was on fire; he bought his own keg. Seriously. It wasn't pretty by the end of the night. He did however get creative with the leftover desserts, making them into cocktails. Sore heads all round.

Handsome Dan is in the country; literally. He is in Wilcannia - this is his niece Evie dressed suitably for the 37 degree day as a Christmas tree. If that was me, I would be sooooo cranky. But I digress.

The night descended, as it always does, into games of cards. How good was the black hand I dealt? Yeah, that's a red trump I turned up. We play eucha.

Shot of the night - Mum, Nanny Hogan, and in the background Aunty Denise who is virtually a teetotaller, having a shot. She hosted. Great day.

Saturday 24 December

Started the day with breakfast in Redfern with Karizy and Josh, who are about to head to Japan for a 3 week eating holiday. Good for them but a bummer for me, as I'll only get to see them once. Not to worry, we made hay while the sun shone.

Next stop: Lizzie, Rossco and Harriet in sunny Hornsby. One of the best Australia Day's I ever had was drinking and playing darts with Lizzie in my backyard; that night we went and watched an ACDC tribute show (not the only one we've seen I might add) and drank homebrew in the park. Classy!!

Lizzie was looking glam in a summer frock; I wore my spotty top and navy a-line skirt.

We managed to get through 2 bottles over lunch - we had a lot of catching up to do! Hattie was as well behaved as she is cute, and Rossco bless his cotton socks remains one of my favourites. He drove me to the train station somewhat worse for wear.

By Saturday evening I was happily esconsed on the porch at Mum's. It is sooo good to see her. I just stare and follow her around coz I don't get to clap eyes on her very often nowadays.

The pic below is everyone who was at Mum's that night - my brother Nat, his wife Vroni, Mum, Aunty Jan, Uncle Jim, Aunty Jude. We were Skyping Vroni's folks in Germany - they celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve.

Friday 23 December

I had been in Sydney for less than an hour when I ran into George, of DTTE fame, at the local shops. Here she is with her little poppet Ruby, in the glamorous surrounds of Marrickville Metro - I wish I could report we'd had a mug-o-cino but alas that would be artistic license. George's hair is very pixie at the moment and dark - her fabulous necklace was a gift (can't remember who from though).

Later that afternoon I headed to Manly to meet baby Jack! And look how good he is!

It was love at first sight. The double - nay, triple chins I'm rocking in this photo - didn't even put him off. He gave me cuddles and barely cried at all. Got to have a solid few hours on the couch talking to Lucille and I even managed to be helpful! I wish I had known earlier that unloading a dishwasher or doing some vaccuuming was far less unpleasant when in service of someone who really had better things to do with their time!

A little later in the evening I had dinner and beers with Elise and George.

Elise was wearing her awesome Liar Liar shirt; George had an outfit change and was wearing a brilliant green and navy striped shirt and black pants (from memory). We had a beer at the Townie, one of the funniest places on earth, before rescuing Elise who had locked herself out... again :).
