Tuesday 30 August

Elise has been staying at mine the past few days, and this morning we walked into the city. She was on the phone to various media pretty well the whole time. We had to stop at one point so she could do some radio grabs without puffing; I used the time to snap a pic for poserity - see below.

When she saw me she put the interviewer on mute, turned to me and said in a stern voice 'that is extremely unhelpful', before turning back, unmuting the call, and continuing her train of conversation like a total pro. I was suitably chastened and readily forgiven. Here she is in the offending snap, in her excellent Leona Edmonston dress she bought a few months ago and my beige wollen scarf.

I forgot to get a pic today despite being dressed to the elevens - dammit! It's the new Monsoon silky dress that doens't look silky. I love the shell like pattern, and think the belt is suprisingly flattering. It's dark brown and cream and next time I promise to get a better pic!

Monday 29 August

Back to the daily grind - boo. Come 5.30 though all bets were off, and me and my partner in crime headed to our local tex-mex joint and scoffed a giant margarita and argued over who was going to keep our 'free' sombrero.

We caused a minor kerfuffle in the restaurant, as the family next to us kicked up a stink that we'd got a hat and they hadn't... well too bad so sad! If you people got on the good stuff on a Monday night you too could have party pics like these to showcase on your fashion blog!

Here we are in peaceful co-existence. Elise was wearing a black shoestring singlet because it was hot - can't remember the rest of the outfit. I've got my paisley layered top on and black pants and boots. I think this was the highlight of Monday, just quietly.

Sunday August 28

Glorious day on Sunday, what else was there to do but hit a beer garden and enjoy the sunshine?

Would you buy a used tie from this lady? Yeah, me neither. For starters she is wearing the same thing as last night! And appears only able to manage to half do up her shoes.

We spent a lot of time this weekend analysing but for whyyyy I don't have a boyfriend. It's just unfathomable... what's off-putting hanging around on church steps on a Sunday with a nice posie? Sheesh...

Today's outfit is my new navy jeans, my nice new light pink and red spotty front tie top, red cardy, and - gasp - matching shoes and belt! Tan belt from Zara last year, and I bought those lovely sandals in Rome last year. You will see more of them in the summertime.

And looky look who we ran into in the beer garden...

Undeterred by my earlier lack of success at the church, I tried another tack.

And still no dice! :)

Saturday August 27

Do you know what happens when you don't blog for a few days? People contact you! To see if you're OK! Thanks for the love, and now back to fashion business.

So Saturday I had a little visitor pop up on my doorstep. Well barge through my door is probably more accurate. Love the black skirt - it's kind of layered. The top is my spotty one from Monsoon, the navy duffel coat has a nice check pattern on the inside, and if I could tell you about the feet of those tights I would probably be in deep shiz so I won't.

It was actually a nice mild night so we didn't have to wear stupid amounts of layers for once! I am clearly posessed by the devil which explains why I am appear to be disrobing for the camera. Navy a-line skirt has been washed and is back in action - hoorah - and the rest of the outfit you've seen before.

Trace outdid herself tonight - fantastic spotty, halter-neck dress, with red accessories - love it.

Friday August 26

The week really sped up since I got to work today with a tonne of stuff to do - it's already 3 and I've got so much to do! Arggh

I made time in my busy schedule, AKA lunchtime, to go down to the supermarket and buy some lollies for my workmates (coz I'm so goddamn nice, just ask them). I have already eaten a muffin today and am feeling quite lardy. Lollies are unlikely to help, but anyhey.

Pretty dowdy today - jeans, green sneakers, white top, green scoop neck jumper (now with mothball holes in the back - hurrah) and a jacket you might not have seen before. It's cropped fairly high and from Dangerfield; bought it a few years back when I came to visit Trace. Conveniently this pic hides chins... amen to that.

Had an early start today thanks to a certain drunken buffoon sitting in a bar by himself calling me on Skype; despite being largely asleep I still managed to think to take a pic. It's a cracker - me half dressed with amaaaaaazingly bad hair; him in the bar laughing at his own jokes very loudly (he panned around and there was not a soul in the place). I especially love that you can see how supremely filthy my computer screen is.

I was also given some feedback about this blog - 'show more boob'.  God help us all. And on that note, back to work.

friday august twenty-six

The week that was... Mikey and i went to a friend's EP launch in the Cross last night and the support act - a male singer/songwriter - did a cover of our favourite song Sarah, Joelene! It was bad and I had to squeeze M's hand very hard during his performance to avoid a Kanye-style bumrush up on stage to steal the mic off him. (I agree with Kanye, btw, Beyonce's single ladies video is kick arse. I'll show you Sare at the next YouTube party.)

Here's me under the Coke sign... I am wearing my navy blue shirt, black jeans, black jacket. Pretty pedestrian as I came straight from work. But if click on the pic and look closely you can see I am a) rolling and b) sticking my tongue out.

wednesday. i put our fireman's hat on for safety mid conference-related breakdown on the couch at work and discovered the emergency plan was attached. dress is from jacqui E, I think, or somewhere else like that. I bought it for work with my sister. It's nice, but a bit dressy for kicking around the office I reckon. I had lots of meetings on wednesday.

Here's me today. It's been pretty tricky keeping all my balls in the air lately and the blog has suffered as a result - get my priorities straight, right? I'm super casual as I was supposed to work from home today but left my laptop at work yesterday, just the sort of Week I Am Having. Anyway, enough bitchin' from me, have a great weekend sportsfans and see you tomorrow, my fellow DTTEer for more hijinks and mayhem.

saturday

well, i think this proves, sarah, that I was alive on Saturday although you saw me on Sunday so I guess you already knew that. Mike's sister Clare and her partner Chris flew in from las vegas, on the way home to NZ so we spent a lazy day trawling around markets and op shops and generally doing nice things. Clare, below, tried on this wedding gown in an op shop for kicks and I agreed to try on one of the truly spectacular bridesmaids dresses they had on display. I regretted it, though, as you can see from my facial expression.

Clare! She looks a lot like the lady version of her brother, I think you'll agree. Big bright blue eyes. She has no plans or indeed desire to get married, btw, just for the record. This Was For Kicks. The lady in the shop actually was quite cross at the level of Kicks we were having - the boys were there too and taking photos. I suppose we made a bit of a scene, in hindsight. But it was not intentional - just good clean fun. Sorry we made you cranky, lady.

Here is Clare's partner, Chris, who looked a bit like Fidel Castro because of his beard. The jacket, pictured at Rozelle markets, really capped it off. See what I did there?

Finally, this incredible giraffe/zebra jacket was on display in another op shop and had it not been perilously close to payday I would have bought it for Sarah, as a thank you present for the incredible gold PVC-like tights she bought me in Germany that are possibly the most unflattering garment I have ever worn. But don't worry, I'll blog 'em when i find the right moment to rock them. I love a fashion challenge.

Thursday 25 August

Looking quite preppy today eh? From the top: new white singlet (still clean, no pit stains, yet), black top I always wear, new check skirt I got at Promod in Berlin, tights, and the worlds oldest shoes that I got in 2003 (such a goddamn hoarder!).

I am also wearing the closest thing to a smile I can manage today. Ooh and I just noticed clenched fists - how apt.

Elise... are you alive? Prove it, please!

Wednesday August 24

Last night me and Trace and a couple of her mates went ice skating. I may or may not have been a little hysterical over the prospect. OK I was totally beside myself. But all that whinging was unnecessary because believe it or not we had a great time!

Here's Trace in her awesome blue dress with a great scarf - possibly a new one I believe. The lovely orange plastic skates really set off the outfit eh? She looks super cute, as always.

This was taken after the skates were off, as it were. I am posing with my new best friend Alex the Seal. The idea is that you use him to push yourself along and stay upright to give you some confidence on your feet, and he worked a treat! It was excruciatingly embarrassing at first but when I was finally able to make it move I didn't have a care in the world. Didn't even have to fight any kids for it, either (lucky for them).

I rode my bike in today and got dressed wearing what I had thrown into my bag very early this morning; I am not sure how I didn't notice when I bought it but the sweet little peep thing in the front is actually more like a gaping hole that shows off far more clevage than I think is acceptable, in the workplace or anywhere (Elise you will love it). I just did an interview with ACA and all I could think of was for the love of god I hope I am not flashing on television. At least it will provide a welcome distraction from the rats nest that is my hair today. Argh.

Got the top in Zara in Berlin for maybe 30 euro or so, same as the skirt (it also has a gold zipper up the back). Note another pair of shoes - that's 3 in 1 week I believe!! Also a pair of net stockings that I've not worn before, can't remember where I got them but I'm pretty happy with them. Accessorised with vegemite toast (one for each hand - I was staaaarving).

Tuesday 23 August

It's not often I am pictured with a genuine grin on my face - but on a day like this how could I not?

Black pants, floaty top I bought about 4 months ago, brown jacket that I wear regularly but don't often post pics of. Note the fabulous orange shoes I got at Christmas time - 15 dollar from Diana Ferrari - total bargain. And I'm not wearing my black boots for once! Hurrah.

Enjoy this smile - I am going ice skating tonight and am terrified. My next pic may be from a hosptial bed. Not to get a little OTT or anything...

Weeee-kend 19-21 August

So someone had themselves a little trip to old Sydney town over the weekend. If you are reading this and I didn't see you - I apologise and please don't hate me for too long.

Here's Elise and I at Rozelle markets. A man had made us buy cauliflower and rhubarb from him and then made us go stand in front of the jasmine for a photo. He was so certain in his directions that we just went along with it. Then people stood around and laughed at us, openly; seeing this pics I can kinda understand why. We look like we are bridesmaids at a wedding, with vegetables for bouquets.

I'm wearing my new navy and pale pink polka dot Monsoon top and new jeans (new! new!); Elise is wearing her lovely navy and red woollen dress that we bought together. I cannot help but note the tights she is wearing were NOT a gift from me; those ones have yet to feature on DTTE. Just sayin you goddamn ingrate Elise, just sayin. I am wearing her spare pair of sunnies, and look how nice and shiny my hair is thanks to her nice shampoo eh??

Later that day I came across this slapper - I have never seen her in pink before. I made her strike this great pose; it shows off her nice new haircut and errrm figure.

I'm sure you all remember DTTE repeat offender Trent; he was not, for once, wearing something lycra from Aldi. Clearly we had a detailed discussion about what we were wearing before meeting up... and yet strangely I had failed to notice that George had been wearing nearly exactly the same thing as Trent in the many hours I spent with her that day! Go figure!

The slightly crazed look on her face is a result of her trying to distract her beautiful baby girl who was wriggling around on my lap at the time this pic was taken. She is officially the Best Baby Ever.

Elise was in her awesome sheer star shirt...

and Mikey has finally learnt how to pose. Better late than never, hey?

Just as an aside, Mikey - have Bo and Hope remarried yet? Sorry... just being cheeky.  Speaking of cheeky, someone told me today I looked a bit rough and asked if I'd had a big weekend. Lucky I'm not a sensitive little flower, innit??

friday august nineteen

It's bloody raining again. here's me yesterday, looking at a biscuit Sean gave me. It was a very nice biscuit. I'm wearing my favourite rain jacket that I thought I lost but then Mikey brought up with him when he moved. It had been hiding in Melbourne since June.

Here's me today, looking as slobby as usual. But - huzzah - jazz hands, for it is Friday and the outlaws have arrived in town, shortly to be followed by Sarah. Bring the noise... I mean bring the muffins, domestic goddess. It's been five days of co-habitation and, although admittedly I was already headed down that path, I have Let Myself Go. Back to t-shirts, jeans, etc.

Oh, and some fckwit stole my motorbike. I'm in denial and don't wish to discuss it, suffice to say it is not out the back of my house where it used to be.

Friday 19 August

Well looky look, what do we have here? Some domestic goddess appears to have made muffins! Let me taste...mmm they are delicious, who could have baked such sweet, fluffy delights?

Oh wait that was moiiii!! :) Banana and walnut, mainly, fact fans.

Top was 20 euros in Zara - it is paisley and floaty and green/brown/purple/cream and extremely comfortable. Lightweight navy cotton scarf has fast become a favourite and conveniently it doesn't clash with this shirt. Navy jeans, brown boots not shown.

I'm off to Syds this weekend so we can expect some joint pics in the days ahead - something has to get her on these pages eh DTTErs???

Thursday 18 August

As if starting the morning waking up from a nightmare wasn't bad enough, I was also required to crack out the iron (not that you can really tell). My bike has been sitting in my office for nearly 2 months now, and I really really really need to take it home. For that, I need to wear pants. And for, that I needed to iron.

Boring black work pants, brown ankle boots (still hanging in there), and the nice salmon coloured sheer top that demonstrates I am fast losing my holiday tan - dammit.

Meanwhile, how putrid is my office? Almost as putrid as my house. Almost.

Hit me Elise - what you got today??

wednesday august seventeen

I just went out for the first time today for a round of coffees and when I came back, I had white shit that looks like flour all over my skirt and jacket. Aside from the mysterious white crap on my trench coat, i am wearing a black pencil skirt also (snap, Sarah) and black polka dot top. On inspection, my tights are also laddered ... we are twins!!!

x

PS If you click on the photo to enlarge it, you can see I'm standing in front of our whiteboard with our lists of people with silly names we'd like to meet (Butchley T Rachford, Freeman Butts, Canning Fok, Brie Snare [aka Cheese Trap], and words we've invented/modified (femasculated, iShock, aesthetically pleading).

Wednesday 17 August

Yeah me again - YAWN.

Last night Trace and I went to an event at the NGV and had ourselves a poke around the Vienna Art and Design exhibition. It was tres civilized, but we couldn't keep up the charade for long. Here's Trace pretending to rock climb up the lovely feature wall; she was worried about being underdressed but I think she looked just fine.

We found this dude wandering the corridors and he had a giggle when he noticed us taking silly pics; he was a good sport and struck a pose on the couch for us, and then slipped back off into the night just as quickly as he had appeared. Bless.

Which brings me to today; today's outfit consists of orange cake, black boots, laddered tights (again), new black pencil skirt and a great new top I bought in Berlin. You can't see it so well but it has a lovely caramel circle and diamond pattern on the fabric, and frilly bits across the top and sleeves.

Tuesday 16 August

Now, not that I'm competitive, but when I got dressed today I did think can I out-strobe yesterday's effort? And the answer is in fact yes, I sure can.

I love this dress, got it years ago visiting Poofy in Liverpewwwwl the first time. Speaking of Poofy, we had a delightful exchange this morning whereby I was at the gym at 6 am (waaaah) and he decided to send me lewd images of himself - I will do you a favour and not share them (because I would probably be arrested if I did).

I will however send me the pic he sent of his un-ironed shirt that he was criticised for (think we all know better than to get me started on un-ironed clothes don't we?). What a shame you cut off the top of your head so we can't see all your luscious locks hey? And great angle by the way, those chins are handsome!!

And one more for today, the ever lovely Skye who is wearing an awesome dress - Skye is this the Berlin one?? Love it.

Monday 15 August

Check it out - matching shoes!!

When I opened my wardrobe today the black and white spotty dress looked like it was ironed. I realised it wasn't when I did up the sash - so I took the sash off and put on a black belt and hey presto problem solved. Who says I am not a lateral thinker?

The first two people I said good morning to today when I got to work told me I looked like I was dressed for summer. The third person blinked a lot and told me my dress was having a strobe effect and did I always have this effect on middle aged men?

Lets not go there shall we?

friday august twelve to monday thirteenth

hey sare ... guess what I've been doing while you were getting a tan in europe? TRYING TO KEEP WARM. for the past month, this has been my evening get-up, an $18 fleece throw i bought from IKEA. I've been skint because I've been paying double rent and hence staying in, a lot, curling up on the couch and eating pizza from the box (my takeaway joint of choice due to their location: directly across the road. bastards have the monopoly).

This is me on Friday. Little cardy is from the clothes swap party, jeans are old and necklace - with butterflies - is from Tiny for my birthday.

I saw my mum and my sister on Saturday. My mum is a quilter and she makes beautiful pieces - they're normally handstitched - with love. This one is my sister trace's and I was photographing it for posterity on a picnic we had at Balmoral on Saturday for Mum's birthday. I've had my quilt for a couple of years and I love it.

mikey arrived late Saturday night and we didn't do anything at all yesterday as we were both pretty exhausted. take that, distance! we won. i've been sent home sick from work today, so here we are working from bed (trainspotters: note quilt), with dualling laptops. quite the power couple, I think you'll agree ;-)

Sunday 14 August

I've lost count how many times I've been promised "yeaaaah I'll blog now, sorry, I've been soooo busy"... blah blah blah! It is so boring to just read about me me me every day, Elise I love you and miss seeing your pretty face every day - please blog! Pretty please! Else I will have to get belligerent with you... and you don't want that, do you?!

This afternoon I met up with Trace for the first time in well over a month (our holidays overlapped). We compared tans - I am fading but am still looking like I have been rolling around in the dirt and am in need of a wash. We had drinkies, laughs, and that kinda thing over her other side of town (AKA the sunny side).

Pictured below is her friend Matty Music in - horror of horrors - DOUBLE DENIM! And lets not speak of the mohawk eh? Sorry I meant bro-hawk - he and his mates got the same hair cut whilst on hols.

Trace is wearing her prescriptions sunnies (I discovered today) and her VRDL hoodie, with rolled up jeans and cons. She's holding a shaking egg thing that the boys just did not ever get sick of playing with. They came close to getting beaten up, but may not have realised this.

I'm wearing my new jeans (one week old and still no holes) and yet another stripey top I got on hols; also a lovely ring Trace just gave me. How brown am I?? And why do I pull my shirt down to show some clevage, just because someone suggests it??

Saturday August 13

Last night I went to some farewell drinkies for Mikey. He is heading north of the border today; this is him sitting on my couch after delivering me his old microwave (I'm well on my way to having all the mod cons! Next stop a bedframe). Dressed for a day in the car as you can see.

I recommended a comfort stop at the Dog on the Tuckerbox but he might be in too much of a rush to get into the arms of his beloved. Mikey - please advise!

I've only been back 6 days and yet it has taken me nearly a whole day to tidy up my house - how is it possible that I am such a pig? Anyways, as I was putting away my shoes I noticed that the heel was really worn down on one of my boots and I thought how on earth did that happen so fast, I bought new boots only recently because the other ones had worn through the heel...

See where I'm heading with this yet?

Yep.  I wore mismatching shoes - a boot from each worn as a pair. All week. AND I DID NOT NOTICE. Very, very special. I am just deciding who to blame for this, will get back to you when I've made up my mind... Janine, Skye, TT camera guy who made me do the walk of shame through the office... you are all contenders.

Bye Mikey - drive safe!
