June 30 continued

I ran into Mikey down at Southbank at lunchtime, he seemed to be having lunch with Grug?

Boom tish.

We had a nice lunch IN THE SUNSHINE - glorious day, so I had my jumper off and worked on my base tan. Sorry about the white glare in this pic... ugh.

Her: Black pants, brown boots, textured Veronika Maine cream silk top with a delicate bronze stripe and 3 bronze buttons and a sash, black cardy (discarded due to excessive heat).

Sunnies are Carrera and I got them at Sydney airport when I went to the Greek Islands last year - rather apt, given I always buy sunnies that make me look like Nana Maskouri (do I not?).

Him: Grey man shirt... and um Mikey maybe you can explain your sartorial spendor in the comments section?

thurs june thirty

Working from home today ... behold, socks AND sandals. (birkenstocks, if you must know.)

all hail the inventor of the laptop; my couch has rarely seen such productivity.

Thursday 30 June

I've got a lunch date today so will save my pic til then - in the interim, check out how great Skye is looking today!

She lives in the office next to me, and every single person she has walked past or vice versa has said to her 'great dress!'.

I can only agree - woollen fabric with a cool pattern and her favourite boots. It's lining up to be a good day for her!

Update to come...

Wednesday 29 June

It's the end of the day and I've had enough; you may be able to tell this by the look on my face. Though I must admit I got an hour of sunshine at lunch, eating at a soup kitchen set up down at Southbank to raise money for the homeless - couldn't have picked a more beautiful day for it.

Today's outfit is the sweet salmon pink Dotti shirt I got a few weeks ago - *clean*, no less. Navy a-line skirt also features - Skye made me stand under a light so you could see the buttons. All I can see is the creases on the skirt that seem to largely match the shirt. Topped off with laddered tights, long boots and the subversive bronze Roman earrings.

Oh and I'm also wearing a watch, which I rarely do. My mum buys my watches; she always has. This one is clear and very thin - don't wear it much but I felt like it today. I'm a bit disturbed at how much I rely on my mum for the basics, I've only noticed since I've started this blog.

Holidays are so close I can smell them; it's making me quite ratty.

So I guest starred in the Brady Bunch yesterday morning (as prefaced by Sarah), and they did my hair and makeup, which KT insisted we get a close up of. They used a navy eyeliner that I liked.

Here is a dress I bought on hols from myer in Melbs. It's Leona Edminston and was reduced from two hundred and something to $79. Bargain. There's a story about a side zip and dressing room incident but i won't go into it here.

Anyway, playing catch up and it just so happens I wore this to ladies lunch on Sunday, so consider me caught up. I retrieved it from the dirty clothes basket at 6am in a fit of desperation. It looks good, but it stunk after its adventures on Sunday lunch (which concluded sometime around 10pm).

So after personal training and a shower (hot water was on the blink for a day, which really didn't help) I raided our wardrobe at work and assembled this incredible outfit from items I had left behind. I wore it to drinks last night, and dinner. Nice, huh? At least I didn't stink.

Here's me today. I have an incredible headache, one of those ones that makes your vision all fuzzy. You've seen all this stuff before I think - my favourite black skirt from Ojay with the pleats, black skivvy, red jacket, brogues.

Tuesday 28 June

Pretty pleased with today's accessory - the fire warden's hat. Matches my outfit well eh?

Dammit - should have worn my firefighters badge! Next time, next time...

thurs twenty third june

Hola! I've been very very slack lately (although still checking out your posts daily Sarah!) but I had to make my first post back one of the always-beautifully-turned-out Von Helle sisters, who may just be the best dressed ladies I know.

Behold, Ange! She is a hellcat. All I know about this outfit is that she bought the boots from a place near where she's working on Addison Rd, where they make samples to take to all the shops to see if they want to order them. The leather is very, very soft and they have a really cute silver star on the calf.

Behold, Stef! She is one of the most accomplished women I know, professionally and personally. She wears hats quite a lot, which sometimes draws attention from the wrong sort of people (ie people like the ones at the Mental As Anything gig we went to that night). They always look fantastic, though. Skirt is from Sportsgirl.

Here's me,in my new favourite dress. I bought it on Smith Street in Melbourne with Sarah, it is made from wool and original circa sixties I think. Didn't look like much on the rack but I love navy and red together so I went for it and it fits perfectly. Paid $90. Love it.

Here's the story...

of a lovely lady...

I've had that in my head all morning thanks to someone's tee wee appearance early today.

What a great way to start the day eh??

Monday 27 June

Dressed by Portmans today. All of it acquired second hand naturally - the brown skirt you've seen before, the baby pink short sleeve shirt was a bit rich considering the time of year, but hey I thought I'd crack it out for something different. It smelt of springtime today, don't know if anyone else noticed? Beautiful morning and evening here.

Anyways the pose is me coughing and spluttering, still. JUST SAYING.

Think I need to get me some medicinal European sunshine... and a hairbrush while I'm at it.

Sunday June 26

I am feeling like a proper Melburnian, having attended my first Community Cup today. Community Cup is the best of all worlds with football thrown into the mix.

There are 2 teams of rock n rollers who thrash it out on the field for four quarters; in between the great unwashed decend on the field to kick their footy and run about, and a band plays at half time and full time. Oh, and fake Nick Cave's referee. You can read a better description here.

This year the half time entertainment was TUMBLEWEED - hello 1995 I still love you!! Full time "entertainment" was provided by You Am I, a band I have loathed since the get go; yet  I will admit that today I happily danced my arse off and had a great time. Go figure.

It was bloody cold and windy so I dressed accordingly - the wide leg, cuffed green Mango pants (the only ones that fit and aren't black and don't have an inappropriate hole in them at present); my fabulous pink floral shirt (the hole is getting bigger - eeek); and the oversized pink cardie, which I was a precaution against getting lost (smart, eh??). Note You Am I providing the background music to the dance spectacular.

Pics below are of the VRDL crowd who were there (previous DTTEers Trace, Tarz and Maimy feature), a few interesting characters, and if you look REAL close at the last pic you'll find Timmy Rogers in a pair of footy shorts. Enjoy.

Saturday 25 June

Look at me - upright!! Hoorah.

2 options today; pilates clothes or the outfit I wore when I headed out to catch up with the lovely Eileen. As glam as I looked in baggy 3/4 trackies and a t-shirt, I'm going with the latter.

This was a good choice for our eventual destination, a wine bar called Collins Quarters - not too downtrodden but not too tarted up (there were a few ladies there who could have done with some sage fashion advice, but alas I can't be all things to all people).

Get up consisted of long black boots and tights, my blue A-line Lush skirt with the buttons on the pockets, khaki green singlet, black Veronika Maine gathered top, black Mango cardy, Medicare scarf courtesy of E, and the most exciting bit - these green earrings which you probably can't even see properly.

I got them in Brussels last year and I love them, even if they are a bit broken - they are seed pods apparently, and they make an almighty racket right in my ear when it is windy. Of course it was nearly blowing a gale.

Eileen the glamour guts had on jeans, heels, and a work jacket and her awesome scarf that is different print on each side - looking good, lady friend.
