friday sept sixteen

didn't have time to blog yesterday as i was busy pulling off the world's greatest carpark grift. i drove mike's car to work on thursday for my tax apt at lunchtime and moved it 3 times in and out of broadway shopping centre carpark where the max free limit is three hours. then, at the end of the day, i forgot about it and caught the bus home. remembered about 9pm, but we were out and not able to go and collect it.

friday: my plan was hatched. i'd pulled a similar grift a month or two ago when i had to get home to meet the locksmith and i had lost my carpark ticket. after a lot of running around they let me out for $10, even though the fee for a lost ticket was $40. the ticket man asked me if i had shopping, and i didnt.

i knew i wouldnt be able to chance it again so i enlisted erin, an actual actor, and of work fame. on the way over we talked through a backstory involving going to meet a friend for lunch and getting a few groceries. we then went to coles and did some shopping about 4pm and then went up to the ticket machine. erin pressed the button and i stood off camera at the side (it has a video).

'look harried!' i whispered urgently at her as she waited. she told the guy about the lost ticket after introducing herself as a nong, and he asked how long she'd been there. 'an hour,' i prompted, she immediately replied and then talked about getting her groceries. he said 'yes, well i can see that. Alright i'll let you off this time but next time it's $40. what's your name?' she told him and then he told her to drive to the gate.

i panicked at this point as i had to drive, thinking about him recognising me driving through the gate with my victorian license plates as an overnight stayer and accuse us of being horrible liars. erin's adrenaline had well and truly kicked in and she took over, reassuring me 'the less we think about it, the more natural it will look'. we got to the gate and she leaned over. he sounded pissed off but the gate went right up.

this is what success looks like.

this is what it feels like.
